Associate Medical Director and Director of Patient Quality and Safety

Job Description

Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), a University of Minnesota affiliated teaching hospital and Hennepin Faculty Associates (HFA) are seeking to fill a physician administrative position in the HCMC Office of the Medical Director as the Associate Medical Director and Director of Patient Quality and Safety (AMD/DPQS).

This position is the physician leader for the performance improvement initiative at HCMC organizing, administering, and setting the strategic direction of the organization’s performance improvement and monitoring efforts. The AMD/DPQS works collegially with the HCMC Chief Quality Officer and the Director of the Department of Performance Measurement & Improvement to improve organizational performance and to develop and facilitate implementation of performance improvement methodology throughout the organization. This position is directly accountable to the Medical Director and assumes the role of Medical Director in the absence of the Medical Director.

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have ten years clinical experience with a minimum of five years performance improvement leadership experience in an inpatient academic medical center environment. Opportunities for clinic or teaching activities may exist on a part time basis depending on candidate specialty and availability. Candidate must have or be able to obtain a Minnesota Medical License and must be eligible for academic appointment to the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Job Qualifications

Clinical responsibilities include caring for general medical ward patients and perioperative care in cooperation with proceduralists in orthopedics, gastroenterology and other surgical subspecialties. Interested candidates will demonstrate strong clinical ability and outstanding skills in communication and coordination of care. Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is desirable but not required.
