Dr. Godishala graduated from the Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, India. After an internship at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in India, he completed his Transitional residency at Pennsylvania Medical College, affiliated with Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia, then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical center, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dr. Godishala is the Medical Director of Hennepin Faculty Associates International Travel Clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Clinical Asstistant Professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He teaches residents, medical students and an Attending Physician and Faculty member of the department of Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Dr. Godishala has also been prominently involved in Preventive Cardiovascular areas including Lipids, Hypertension and Travel Medicine. He is board certified in multiple areas. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Clinical Lipidology, Clinical Hypertension and certified in travel health by the International Society of Travel Medicine. He was the first board certified Clinical Lipidologist in the state of Minnesota.

Dr. Godishala is a Fellow of American College of Physicians and member of many professional organizations including the International Society of Travel Medicine, Minnesota Medical Association, National Lipid Association, Midwest Lipid Association, American Society of Hypertension, Vascular Biology Working Group, COACH, and the American Association of Physicians of Indian origin.

Dr.Godishala served as a scientific program Chairman in 2001 and 2002 for the Minnesota chapter of the American College of Physicians and the Executive Council of ACP, Minnesota Chapter. He is listed as one of "Americas Top Physicians" in 2006 and 2007 by Consumer Research Council of America.
