Dr. Swenson received her medical degree from the University of Texas-Houston. She is board certified in cardiology and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. In addition to her medical studies, she has completed certificate programs in Spiritual Direction, Basic Cranial Osteopathy, Clinical Hypnosis, and Heart Rhythm Meditation. She has over 20 years of personal experience with integrative medicine practices including meditation, acupuncture, exercise, nutrition, Tai Chi, guided imagery, mindfulness training, biofeedback, energy medicine and sound therapy.

Dr. Swenson is a lifetime student of metaphysics. She is the only cardiologist to have trained directly with Dr. Weil in Tucson, Arizona during a two year residential fellowship in Integrative Medicine. She has a special interest in the emotional and spiritual aspects of heart health and the emerging role for cardioenergetics.

In addition to her work at the Hennepin Heart Center, Dr. Swenson sees patients for integrative cardiology consultation at the Alternative Medicine Clinic. Using her training and background, Dr. Swenson is able to work with her patients on their cardiac health using a variety of approaches in standard and integrative medicine Her approach to Integrative Cardiology emphasizes the body/mind/spirit approach to heart health and a role for emotional cardioenergetics.

Dr. Swenson enjoys speaking to groups on topics of heart health and the role of exercise and basic nutrition for balanced health.
