Dr. Weissmann earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed his residency training in primary care internal medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He also has a fellowship in primary care faculty development from Michigan State University and a National Faculty fellowship from the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare. Dr. Weissmann joined Hennepin Faculty Associates in 1993. He is currently the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Hennepin County Medical Center and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Weissmann is originally from New Ulm, Minnesota where he grew up as a native German speaker.
