Dr. Walsh earned her medical degree in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Masters in Public Health at Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in 1997. She completed her residency training in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in 2004, followed by a Chief Residency before joining the Hennepin County Medical Center Internal Medicine staff in 2005. Dr. Walsh is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Walsh has been the Associate Program Director of the internal medicine residency program and was recently appointed as the Program Director of the Transitional Residency Program in 2008. Dr. Walsh is also the Medical Director of the Cardiac-Renal inpatient unit and the cardiac short stay unit.

Dr. Walsh has worked primarily as an academic hospitalist, working with both emergency medicine and internal medicine residents rotating on the inpatient cardiology service. Her interests include women's cardiovascular health and hypertensive emergencies. She also has a specific interest in global health, serving as one of the teaching faculty of the Global Health/Tropical Medicine program.
