Dr. Kasiske received his medical degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and fellowship training in Nephrology at Hennepin County Medical Center, which is an affiliate hospital of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He is former Deputy Director of the United States Renal Data System and former Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Kidney Diseases.
Dr. Kasiske is the Director of Nephrology and the Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation at Hennepin County Medical Center, as well as the Medical Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation at the University of Minnesota. He is the US Principal Investigator in the Study of Heart and Renal Protection (SHARP), and Principal Investigator for National Institutes of Health grants to study long term effects of kidney donation and cardiovascular disease in kidney transplant recipients.
