Dr. Garrett is originally from Iowa. He received a BS degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy. Dr. Garrett joined Hennepin Faculty Associates in 1990, after completing 20 years of active-duty service in the Army. He became the Director, Division of General Internal Medicine, at HCMC in 1991. He is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota.
