Mission of the Corporation

During its long history, the institution now known as Hennepin County Medical Center (formerly Minneapolis General Hospital) has provided superior care to the sick while developing medical education and research programs which have attracted national recognition for excellence. Through this academic orientation toward medical education and scientific inquiry, it has been possible to produce unique programs and services for all citizens of Hennepin County and the region.

This corporation has been formed to preserve these goals of superior patient care and excellence in physician education and research which attract and hold high quality physician faculty and resident physicians.

It is thus appropriate and essential that this corporation and its members continue to dedicate themselves above all other considerations to:

  1. Provide the highest quality of patient care possible, meeting the expectations of the community and all patients coming to Hennepin County Medical Center for dignified, humane and superior medical services.
  2. Continue the physician education and research programs which have resulted in the Institution’s national reputation for medical excellence.
  3. Continue the close affiliation of Hennepin County Medical Center and its physician faculty with a strong academic base.
